Helen M. Christiansen age 96 of Clinton, passed away Thursday March 16, 2017 at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Saturday 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Helen was born on Feb. 21, 1921 in Miles, IA, the daughter of Jerry and Anna (Gelsen) Petersen. She married Gilbert Christiansen on June 12, 1946 in Clinton; he died in 2007. She owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop on Main Ave. for many years. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, and Odeon Club. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Helen is survived by her two sons, Allen (Nancy) Christiansen of Fulton, IL and Reynold (Marcia) Christiansen of Clinton; four grandchildren, Angela (Doug) Tegeler, Robert Christiansen, Kelly (Quentin) Stark, and Tracy (Corey) Bredekamp; five great grandchildren, Shawn, Allison, Dylan, Rowan, and Lincoln; and a sister, Esther Petersen of Miles, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
