Stephen O. Cooley age 72 of Clinton, passed away Friday March 10,, 2017 at his home. Memorial services are planned for 2:00 PM Sunday March 19th at the Pape Funeral Home. Gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Stephen was born in Clinton, IA on January 2, 1945, the son of Orville and Enid (Hoeft) Cooley. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1964. He was married to Rosie Judge for 22 years and the couple raised three children. He was then married to Lisa Schrader for 19 years and the couple later divorced. Stephen was employed in the Litho Department as a Pressman at International Paper for more than 30 years, retiring when the plant closed in 2001. He was employed at Mufflers, Inc. for many years as well as a Security Guard with Wild Rose Casino for more than five years. Stephen was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Stephen is survived by two sons, Mark (Heather) Cooley and their children JT, Makenzie, Maddux & Cooper of Clinton and Tony (Kristine) Cooley and their children Drew, BJ and Brooklyn of Clinton; one daughter, Laurie Soesbe and her children Abby, Libby and Erin of Clinton; four brothers, Jeff (Ellen) Cooley of Clinton; Charles (Barb) Cooley of Clinton; Tom (Jeanette) Cooley of Norcross, GA; Paul (Lorine) Cooley of Auburn, GA; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also, special friends, Jon Abbott and MaDonna Chase both of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
