As briefly stated in last week AGE Dr. A. Home Smith died on Thursday night in 9th instant. There was probably no man living in this city better known than Doctor Smith. In one way or another he had endeared himself to everyone. As a physician he drew no line anywhere. He was a friend to humanity and whenever or wherever distress and suffering demanded his attention, he responded, no matter whether compensation came or never came. It was all the same to him. His greatest fault was his generosity. The fault made him troops of friends, it made him no enemies, and hence when the hour came to lay all that was mortal of Dr. Smith, in the tomb, it was not strange that hundreds flocked about his bier to say the last goodbye.
