Jacqueline "Jackie" L. Giddings, age 87, of Miles, Iowa, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Burial will take place in Sterling Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. Jackie was born July 24, 1929, in rural Sabula, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Henry and Mary (Peters) Gruhn. She attended Iowa Township Country School. Jackie married Ralph Giddings, Jr., on October 19, 1952, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula. They celebrated 54 years of marriage until Ralph's death in December 2006.
Jackie worked at the Clinton Garment Factory and the Oxford Speaker Factory in Sabula for many years. She worked other miscellaneous jobs in addition to farming with her husband. Jackie attended Miles Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, quilting and baking. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and good friends, Harold Mootz and Myrna and Doug Warner.
Jackie will be missed by her children, Jerold (Marilyn) Giddings of Sabula, Iowa, Rachel Burken-Griffin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Ann Sanger of Miles, Iowa; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, with one on the way; four great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane Giddings of Preston, Iowa, and her special son-in-law, Tom Burken of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Henry and Mary; a son, David; siblings, Margaret Gray, Hazel Johnson, Dorothy Keil, Mary Ann Elliott, Frances Keil, and Anna Catherine Gruhn; and two sons-in-law, Steve Sanger and Kent Griffin; and a grandson-in-law, Scott Marburger. - See more at: http://obituaries.clintonherald.com/story/jacqueline-giddings-1929-2017-886293642#sthash.9BBcQ75C.dpuf
