Nicholas M. Chavez, 26, of Clinton, passed away, January 29, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center - North, Clinton.

Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Nicholas Martin Chavez was born on March 6, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Eugene Smith and Alice Chavez. He married Brittnie Brown on September 5, 2015 in Clinton.

Nicholas was a switchman on the railroad for Crossroads Logistics for the past 7 years.

Nicholas enjoyed reading, roasting his friends and family, loved his music especially free-styling, spending time with his children, and having deep conversations with his mom on a variety of topics from books, movies, and current events.

Nicholas is survived by his wife: Brittnie of Clinton; his children: Caiden and Lillyanna at home; his mother: Alice Chavez of Clinton; his siblings: Rhonda (Dawn) Chavez of Pine City, Minnesota, Ramona Chavez of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Angelina (Beau) Pillet of Folsom, California, Elizabeth Smith of Clinton, Brian Chavez of Clinton, Steve, Celeste & Simone Smith of Chicago, Illinois; nieces and nephews including: Tony, Jazzmin & Cecelia Sandoval, and Joe Martin Chavez; and aunts uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, brother: Geno Smith, and his cousin: Tony Chavez.
