June L. Hood, 83, of Clinton passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, at Mercy Living Center North. Funeral services will be held at Pape Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, with services, 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 1. Burial follows at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers are grandsons, Logan, Connor and Evan Hood, brothers- in- law Larry Hood and Willard Larson, and nephew Bill Lamp.

June was born June, 12, 1933, in Charlotte to William H. and Rosa (Slapnicka) Lamp. June was a 1952 graduate of Charlotte High School. June was involved in 4-H early in her life and she worked at Curtis Company and as a teacher's aide at Longfellow Elementary School.

June married Eugene "Gene" A. Hood on February 19, 1956 in Charlotte, Iowa. They were happily married for 56 years until Gene's death in 2013. June and Gene were long-time members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton.

June is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hood of Tampa, Florida; her son Mark (Sarah) Hood of Clinton; three grandsons, Logan, Connor and Evan of Iowa City; brother-in-law Larry (Karen) Hood of Clinton; sisters-in-law LeAnne (Willard) Larson of Camanche, Carolyn Lamp of Charlotte and Linda Lamp of DeWitt; several nieces and nephews, and her cherished cat Smokey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Bill and LeRoy Lamp.
