Donna M. Durkop, 82, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday evening, November 15, 2013, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa.
Donna Merlene Clark was born on July 29, 1931 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Merlin Richard and Nora Bell (Rannals) Clark. She was a 1949 graduate of Bellevue High School and then attended and graduated from the Bayless Business College in Dubuque in June of 1952. On September 28 of that same year she married Harold Leon Durkop at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Iowa.
Donna was a homemaker who had also worked as a ward clerk at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa for a few years, and later as a secretary to George Goodenow at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for several years.
Donna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, ceramics, and crafts.
Those left to honor Donna's memory include her husband, Harold Durkop of Maquoketa, IA; children, Dennis Durkop of Chattahoochee, FL, Debora (Dan) Holm of Alamo, CA, and Cheryl Kafar of Joplin, MO; 4 grandchildren, Amy Hayward of Maquoketa, IA, Troy (and fiancé Kit Keane) Hayward of Bellevue, IA, Maria (David) Hong of Woodbridge, VA, and Myling Durkop of Huntington Beach, CA; 2 step-grandchildren, Marty (Jennifer) Holm of Newnan, GA, and Eric (Ashley) Stoltz of New Baltimore, MI; 2 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Eleanor) Clark of Maquoketa, IA; sisters, Mona Neiman of Bellevue, IA, Betty Deppe of Loveland, CO, and Norma (Glen) Bormann of Andrew, IA; and a sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Kelly Keeney of Delmar, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Denzil Clark Sr.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
