Died

At the residence of Mr. Henry Penn, in this city, Dec. 31st, Mr. Thomas Calderwood, in his 90th year. A native of Scotland, he came to this county early in life, was a California forty-niner, and afterward settled in this county. He died a bachelor, and some estimate his fortune reached six figures. He was a respected as an honorable, upright citizen and business man. He leaves nephews and nieces in America and Scotland – several of whom, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Calderwood and Mrs. David Clark, of Traer; Mr. Wm. Calderwood and Miss Margaret Calderwood, of Monmouth, Ill.; and Mr. and Mrs. James H. Wilson, of Davenport, Iowa; and other friends, Mr. Joseph Wilson, of Manning, and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Shadduck, of Miles, Ia., came on. The funeral was held January 4th, with services by Rev. G. R. Manning, with interment at Oakland.
