Mrs. Maxine M. Runge, 97, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2016, at Wheatland Manor.
Mrs. Runge, the former Maxine Mae Kirchhoff was born May 16, 1919, in Maquoketa to William and Mary (Moeller) Kirchhoff. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. Maxine married Dolyn "Bud" Runge March 26, 1938, in Tipton. They resided in DeWitt much of their married life where they raised their family. Maxine worked as bookkeeper at Iowa Electric for 23 years until retirement in 1981. Her husband preceded her in death March 2, 2009.
Maxine was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, DeWitt. She loved to sing and enjoyed the winters that she and Bud spent in Arizona.
Surviving are her children, Charles (Marilyn) Runge of Sunnyvale, California, Sharon (Jerry) Pratt of Long Beach, California, and Marilyn "Cookie" (Allen) Block of Grand Mound; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Maxine in death were her parents; sisters, Bea (Harold) Warnecke, Camilla Chord and Helen (Fred) Homer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the United Methodist Church, DeWitt with Pastor Tom Boomershine officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
