Andrew Andy Neil Rickertsen, age 26 of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Bryant, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Faith Lutheran and from 12:00 noon until the service time Friday also at the church. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tanner Rickertsen, Brandon Graham, Josh Laffoon, Kole Vogel, Jake Bowman, Andy Steenhoek and Daniel Harbeson. Honorary casket bearer will be Tyler Houzenga. Andy was born in Clinton on March 30, 1990, the son of Terry and Kathy (Houzenga) Rickertsen. He graduated from East Central High School in 2008. While at East Central Andy was very active in band, choir, swing choir, and drama. He was a member of the Honor Roll, and had received the Jackson County Bar Association and Bernie Saggau Awards. He received a scholarship to Indian Hills Community College where he earned his Robotics Technical degree in 2010. Andy was employed at Titan Tire from 2010 to 2011. He received an Accumold scholarship to DMACC for tool and die had been employed at Accumold as an Electronic Technician in Ankeny since 2011.

Andy loved kayaking, camping, biking, hiking, listening to music, lifting weights, fishing with his father and brother, playing video games, and hanging with his friends. He had bought his home in Ankeny in 2014 and was so proud to turn the key after the closing. He loved being outside, working on his home and was just beginning an adventure into drag racing. He loved life and everyone in it. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he had been confirmed.

Andy will be deeply missed by his parents, Terry and Kathy Rickertsen of Bryant; his brother, Tanner TJ Rickertsen of Ankeny; his grandparents, Neil and Julie Houzenga of Thomson, Il; his aunts and uncles, Tim and Claire Houzenga of North Liberty, Scott and Rhonda Houzenga of Andover, IL, Gary and Merla Rickertsen of Clinton, Dwaine and Jane Rickertsen of Clinton and Diane and Alan Manning of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Doris Rickertsen. In lieu of Flowers a memorial has been established.
