Mary A. Potter, 101, of Camanche, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Lantern Park Specialty Care Nursing Home - Coralville, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, December, 23, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Camanche. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Pfohl, Mike Potter, Nathan Bell, Shane Ellison, Philip Potter and David Bell. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Mary A Walden was born June 3, 1915 in South Canisteo, New York, the daughter of Emery and Alice (Loomis) Walden. She attended and was a 1934 graduate of Andover High School in Andover, New York. She married Rev. John Potter on April 2, 1936 in Hallsport, New York; he preceded her in death on July 31, 1964.

Mary worked for the Clinton County Courthouse for 22 years as a clerk for the city assessor, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Camanche where she was a very active member serving as a lifetime deaconess, children's Sunday school teacher and was the secretary of the Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed baking, writing letters and sending cards to family and friends. Most of all she will be remembered for how she loved and lived for her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Mary is survived by her children: Ruth Alice Potter of East Moline, Illinois, Maurice (Pat) Potter of Royal Oak, Michigan, Philip (Linda) Potter of Coralville, Iowa and Rebecca (David) Bell of Westerville, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and many other relatives in the state of New York.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter: Marilee Juanita Potter, one son: Royce Potter, one infant granddaughter: Lori Lynn Potter, one sister, one brother, three half-brothers, and 1 half-sister.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church - Camanche.
