Donald Edward Bennett, 80, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Alverno. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date. Donald was born March 27, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of George and Edna (Gaffney) Bennett. He was educated in the Clinton Schools. Donald married Delores Heller on November 15, 1967 in Clinton; she died July 23, 1994.

He had been employed as a custodian for several years, retiring in 2001.

Donald was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1958.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Debbie Smith of Clinton and Janet (Steve) Payne of Rock Falls, IL; special grandson, James Smith II of Virginia Beach, VA and sister, Shirley O’Neal of Rock Falls, IL.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James J. Smith, three brothers, Robert, Marvin and Richard, his twin sister, Donna Russell and his parents.
