Kenneth D. Rohling, age 88 of Wheatland, passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 28 at 10:30 A.M at Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland with Pastor Eric Swenson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 27 from 2-4 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Ken was born on August 30, 1928 to Marvin William Sr. and Pearl (Tubbs) Rohling in Lost Nation, Iowa. He married Jean LaVonne Smith on August 9, 1952. She died January 4, 1985.
Ken was a government employee of ASCS and on the ASCS county committee, was on the Wheatland School Board for 12 years, a president on the Federal Land Bank Board for 5 years, a charter member of the Wheatland Lions, and president of the F&B Board. He farmed for over 60 years and liked to play cards. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, and was a big Cubs & Hawks fan. Ken served his country in the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army.
He is survived by his sons, Todd (Kathryn) and Steven (Kathy) of Wheatland; grandchildren, Justine (Andy) Maass, Stephanie Rohling, and Pedar & Luke Rohling; 5 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and one to be; and sisters, Elaine Norton of Maquoketa, Eleanor Christensen of Lost Nation, and Jeannette Schroeder of Lost Nation.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Marvin Jr.
