Robert “Bob” A. Kimmer, 72, of Camanche passed away, Friday, September 23, 2016 at his home, peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Kimmer, Dale Kimmer, Marcus Kimmer, Chad Kimmer, Dawson Kimmer, David Riojas, and Drake Kimmer. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Robert Arthur Kimmer was born January 22, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Alice (Lussier) Kimmer. He was a 1963 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Kathleen Baker on July 27, 1963 in Clinton; she preceded him in death on August 6, 2013.

Bob worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a wheel shop foreman prior to transferring to Cabot, Arkansas with the Union Pacific Railroad. Bob retired in 2004 after 41 years and 9 months of service. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes Fan and enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and listening to the scanner. He especially loved time spent with his family and enjoying the view of the Mississippi River from his home.

Bob is survived by his three sons: Joseph Kimmer of Geneva, Illinois, Dale (Lara) Kimmer of Clinton and Marcus Kimmer of Urbandale, Iowa; one daughter: Kelly (David) Riojas of Plainfield, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters: MaDonna Hinricksen of Marshfield, Wisconsin and Bonnie (Joel) Sadler of Fort Mill, South Carolina; two brothers: Roy (Mary) Kauper of Edgerton, Wisconsin and Wesley (Arlene) Kimmer of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife of 50 years Kathy, Bob is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Michael Joseph Kimmer, two sisters Lorraine Winger and Evelyn Meyers, and two brothers Edward Kimmer and James Kimmer.

Memorials may be made to the Church of the Open Door in honor of Kathy Kimmer.
