Arlene J. Lauritzen- Morris, age 84, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton after battling a courageous battle with lung cancer. She will be greatly missed by all. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Pape Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 28th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cremation rights have been accorded and burial will be at later date in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers will be her grandchildren Ben and Jake Lauritzen, Jensen, Baylor and Emerson Crigger. Arlene was born Arlene June Sowards in Orangeville, Illinois on March 10, 1932, the daughter of Floyd and Tressie (Dietmeier) Sowards. She graduated from Orangeville High School Class of 1950. She married Donald L. Lauritzen on September 8, 1951, in Orangeville, IL. While raising her family she worked for Burpee Seed Company, Naeve Seed Corn and Iowa State Bank. She later moved to Pensacola, Florida and worked for Pica Graphic Press. After living in Florida, she moved to Las Vegas and worked for the Excalibur Casino. She returned to Clinton to be closer to her family and worked for the Mississippi Belle II. Arlene loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participates in sports. She also enjoyed dancing and playing cards with her friends. Arlene is survived by a son, Jay (Joan) Lauritzen of Clinton and a daughter, Sara (Troy) Crigger of Camanche; five grandchildren, Ben and Jake Lauritzen and Jensen, Baylor and Emerson Crigger; a sister Barbara (Gail) Shippy of Palm Springs, CA and brother Mark (Annie) Sowards of Palomar Mountain, C; and several nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dawn; a son, Scott; a grandson Mitch Lauritzen; a brother Ross Sowards; and sisters Ruth Peck and Beulah Propheter.
