Keith Andrew Conzett was born October 25, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Milton and Verona (Drury) Conzett. He was a 1976 graduate of Clinton High School. He graduated from the University of Iowa and the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. Keith served on the Art Institute board for several years and was the Commencement speaker at the 1993 graduation ceremony.
Keith was a commercial and graphic design artist. He was known for his strong work ethic and his creativity. His most recent position was as manager of the Mad 4 Marketing agency in Ft. Lauderdale. Previously he worked as director of advertising at Perry Ellis International, Inc. in Miami; advertising manager at Palm Beach Casino Line in Boca Raton; art director/production manager for Lauderdale Publishing; art director/vice president for the Ad Center, Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale; and art director for Crown Cruise Line in Boca Raton. He received many awards for his artwork, most notably winning first place in the Ft. Lauderdale Oktoberfest Poster Contest. One of his corporate ad campaigns was displayed in Times Square, New York City.
Keith was very active in the Ft. Lauderdale Community. His favorite organization supported the historic Stranahan House, the oldest surviving structure in Broward County. He had been involved with the Museum of Art, Riverwalk Ft. Lauderdale, Greater Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, the Executives Association of Ft. Lauderdale, and the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Advertising Federation, in addition to participating in many cultural and charity events.
He formed an interest in Egyptian art and archeology early in his life, and the opportunity to travel to Egypt was a dream fulfilled. He also traveled to Italy twice and enjoyed the art and architecture of Rome, as well as the Italian countryside. He loved collecting art deco picture frames, old dishes and glassware, and antique furniture. He was an excellent cook, and his culinary creations were eagerly anticipated by his family and friends. He was well known for his crab-stuffed mushrooms, spanakopitas, prime rib roast, French bread, and key lime pies.
His nieces and nephew loved the cartoon characters (Snoopy, Garfield, etc.) he would draw for them when they were young. He was known for keeping Christmas candy for years, much to the dismay of his younger relatives upon discovering and eating the stale candy.
Keith is survived by his sister Karen Conzett of Clinton; brother Brian (Sandy) Conzett of DeWitt, niece Wendy (Jeremy) Smith and their children Cassandra, Aidan, and Trinity of Clinton; niece Jennifer (Matt) Mueller and their children Catelyn, Courtney, Samantha, and Brian of Woodbury, Minnesota; nephew Eric Conzett of Ft. Drum, New York; special friend Cheryl Hoye (Alex Marcucci) of Pompano Beach; and his beloved cat, Peanut. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Stranahan House in Ft. Lauderdale or the First United Methodist Church in Clinton.
