Helen E. Cook , 92, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Mercy Living Center – North.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Troy Witt, Ryan Witt, Evan Witt, Rick Andersen, Brent Buntemeyer, and Barry Buntemeyer. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Helen Eileen Petersen was born on November 4, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of George W. and Norma (Kreinbring) Petersen. She was a 1941 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Louis “Oogie” Witt on November 21, 1943 in Clinton; he died January 22, 1979. She later married Clayton T. Cook on May 31, 1986 in Clinton.

Helen worked at Kline’s as a sales clerk and department manager for 18 years retiring in 1986.
Helen was a lifetime member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, loved to play golf and was a member of the Fulton Country Club, Canyon Creek and Buck’s Barn. She enjoyed traveling, especially wintering in Arizona. She also was in a 500 and UNO card club.

Helen is survived by her loving husband: Clayton of Clinton; her son: Dave (Deb) Witt of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter-in-law: Sue Witt of Clinton; four step-sons: David (Theresa) Cook of Crosby, Texas, Michael (Kathy) Cook of Clinton, Jeff (Georgia) Cook of Clinton, and Ron (Peg) Cook of Litchfield Park, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, step-greatgrandchildren; and her sister: Bonnie (Ray) Frett of Atkins, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, her son: Charles; a step-granddaughter: Emily, and her sister: Ellen.
