Donald A. Zaehringer, 88, of Clinton, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton. Services will be held, 10 AM, Thursday, May, 26, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald, Keith and Peter Zaehringer and Nolan Schneider.

Donald was born December 5, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Paul and Frieda (Kunde) Zaehringer. He was a 1947 Lyons High School graduate. Don married Shirley Lorenz on November 19, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa; she preceded him in death April 27, 2002.

He had been employed as the service manager at Servi-Soft, Inc. and Culligan for more than 42 years. He retired in 1989.

Don was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton.

Survivors include his sons, Donald W. (Bernice) Zaehringer of Oregon, IL, Keith (Maureen) Zaehringer of Clinton, IA and Peter H. (Deb) Zaehringer of Alva, Florida; five granddaughters; sisters, Helen Mallinger of Clinton and Margaret Kane of DesMoines, IA and his significant companion, Shirley Gramer of Clinton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Paul, Jim and Bill.
