Charles "Chuck" Edward Rath, 79, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded . A celebration of his life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the Church of the Open Door. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Chuck was born January 17, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Bernhart and Etta (Gage) Rath. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines, serving from 1955 to 1959 in Japan.
Chuck was united in marriage to Sharon Ruby Eckelberg on July 30, 1976 in Le Claire, Iowa. He worked as an Electrician for Alcoa, Inc. for over 30 years.
Chuck loved baseball, especially following the Chicago Cubs. However, his passion for baseball didn't end there, he also coached little league baseball (his team the Braves) for over 35 years.
Chuck is survived by his wife Sharon of Clinton, IA; one son - Joshua (Stacia) Rath of North Liberty IA; two daughters - Jillian (Kurt) Housenga of Clinton, IA and Joy Rath of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren; one sister- Janice McDonald of Rock Island, IL; one brother - Ron Rath of Walcott, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he's met throughout his life.
Preceding Chuck in death were his parents, two brothers - Bob and Gary and two sisters - Norma and Joanne.
