Melvin L. Cronk age 77 of Clinton, went into the loving hands of the Lord at 3:30 P.M. Friday afternoon at the Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, surrounded by his family. A prayer service for Mel was held during the 7:30 AM service at Christ Episcopal Church on Sunday, February 28, 2016. As per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mel was born on November 5, 1938 in Clinton, the son of Guy and Christina (Hagen) Cronk. He married Helma Michel on September 6, 1958 in Preston, Iowa. Mel was employed with the Clinton MTA for 35 years. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He enjoyed volunteering at school, fishing, gardening, wildlife, old cars and noisy machinery.

Mel is survived by his wife Helma; two children, David (Paula) Cronk of St. Louis and Sue Ebensberger of Clinton; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two sisters, Gloria (Charles) Smith of Clinton and Delores Elder of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Jackson; two brothers and three sisters. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
