Maurice I. “Moe” Miller, age 86 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Mercy Living Center North. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandsons: Brad and Eric Bodin, Peter Shupp, Mark Mahmens Jr., Jeffrey and Michael Schneidermann and Luke and Jeremy Miller.

Moe was born in Troy, OH on November 20, 1929 the son of Dr. Maurice and Izola (Conklin) Miller. He graduated from Troy High School in 1947. Moe enjoyed 68 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Iva “Lou” Bittikofer, whom he married on May 31, 1947. He received his BA degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1951. They moved to Clinton from Troy in 1964. Moe was plant manager at Jim Walter Window Components and later was plant manager for Air Vent, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, he and Lou moved to Florida. They moved back to Clinton in 2011 to be closer to family.

Moe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. In his early years, Moe was an avid golfer, water skier, trap shooter and enjoyed family activities. In retirement, he started M & L Enterprises and he and Lou traveled the trap shooting circuit. He was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and one of his proudest moments was being on the Kinnick Stadium field with his daughter Shelly, a pom-pom girl at the time while his future son-in-law, Mark was playing for the Hawkeyes.

Moe is survived by his wife Lou, four daughters: Sandy (Jim) Bodin of Cedar Rapids, Sharie (Mike) Shupp of Ames, Shelly (Mark) Mahmens of Clinton and Sue Schneidermann of Cedar Rapids; a son Scott (Monica Murphy) Miller of DeWitt; a daughter-in-law, Lori Miller of Clinton; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, sister Jane (Dale) Doland of Fairborn, OH, half-sister Gayle Kovacs of Fairborn, OH, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Skip in 2012. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
