Roger Brent Wheeler was born May 27, 1943 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Harrison H. and Maxine (Miller) Wheeler. He was a 1961 graduate of Fulton High School and attended the Chicago Technical College where he received a diploma in Architectural Drafting and Design. From a young age, Roger knew he wanted to be a contractor and has worked on/remodeled/repaired/built hundreds of homes throughout Iowa and Illinois.
Roger loved the Lord with all his heart, served God faithfully, loved family and friends and would do anything for anyone. Some accomplishments we're most proud of are his award winning carpentry, his United States Patent, beautiful landscape projects, love and appreciation of nature; and his patriotic love of country. In his free time, he enjoyed wood working, cooking, working in his yard, playing his guitar and listening to jazz, big band and gospel music. He truly was a family man who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.
On September 17, 1983, he married Diane Burns Burggraaf of Clinton, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of Clinton; six children: David (Georgette) Wheeler of Davenport, Renee Wheeler Mak of Des Moines, Iowa, James (Christine) Wheeler of Beachwood, New Jersey, David (Jennifer) Burggraaf of Austin, Texas, Dustin (Jessica) Burggraaf of Nashville, Tennessee, and Lyndsey Wheeler of Los Angeles, California; eleven grandchildren: Monet, Taylor, and Matisse Makohoniuk, Amelia and Kaalin Wheeler, Allegra Wheeler, Jack, Will, and Bo Burggraaf and Ava and Oscar Burggraaf; one sister: Sandra Fawcett of Hemet, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and one niece.
For memorials, he’d be most honored if you helped spread the gospel, which was his life’s goal.
Donations can be made to Kenneth Hagin Ministries and/or The Pregnancy Center of Clinton.
