Jerome Wilke age 85, of Andover, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at his home on his beloved farm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15th at the church and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Greg Matthiesen, Randy Wilcke, Ryan Jargo, Brent Wilson, Dusty Stoll and Jacob Wilke. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jerome was born in Clinton County on December 29, 1929, the son of William and Alvina (Rittmer) Wilke. He graduated from Miles High School in 1948. Jerome married Jacqueline Wulf on January 14, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Clinton. Jacqueline passed away on September 9, 1989. Jerome farmed his entire life north of Andover as well as doing custom combining. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Clinton County Farm Bureau, the Odeon Club and had been a volunteer with the Andover Fire Department. He was a member of the Clinton Bowling Association where he had served on the Board of Directors, Past President in 1977 and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997. He recorded a 299 game in 1967. Jerome enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, dancing, watching Big Joe’s Polka, and was a vocal Iowa Hawkeye fan,
Jerome is survived by four children; Joni (Dan) Kane of Council Bluffs, Jennifer (Gary) Eno of Thomson, IL, Jay (Kathy) Wilke of DeWitt and James (Katie) Wilke of Andover; five grandchildren: Jacob, Adam, Audrey, Jacqueline and Hadley; a great granddaughter, Jaydynn and very special friends, Les and Shirley Greve. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and infant son, Brian; a brother Norman and a sister, Mildred Darling. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
