Steven J. Moeller, 55, of Fulton, Illinois passed away at home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Steven was born November 6, 1960 in Fort Madison, Iowa the son of Kenneth and Jean (Schneider) Moeller. He was a graduate of Marquette High School in West Point, Iowa. He went on to get a specialized Associates Degree in Gun Smithing Technology from Southeastern Community College. Steven would utilize his degree starting his own business in restoration of antique and collectable firearms.
Steven was united in marriage to Rhonda Hagge on November 23, 1991 in Camanche, Iowa. Steven was a lifetime member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Fulton Kiwanis Club, were he severed as President.
Steven loved tending to his garden and collecting pottery. He was also known to collect cars and antiques. Steven had a natural talent to restore items, especially guns and the results of his work would show no noticeable signs of restoration at all! His unequalled restoration skill earned him the nickname of "Wizard" in the gun community. Above all, he loved his family very much especially his grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his parents - Kenny (Jean) Moeller of West Point, IA; his wife Rhonda of Fulton, Il, one daughter - Michelle Birkett of Fulton, IL; one son - Matt (Jessica) Birdsley of Sterling, IL; one adoptive daughter Claire Mun of Korea; five grandchildren - Tayler and Kyli Birkett, Braden, Madison and Brynlee Birdsley; four brothers and one sister with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
