James L. Latimer, 65, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life taking place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born September 11, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Odie and Lillian (Fuller) Latimer Jr. James attended special needs schools early on and then attended the Skyline Center in Clinton.
James loved the Skyline Center, working there for 45+ years. When not at Skyline visiting with friends or working, he enjoyed bowling, going to the YWCA and he loved to Karaoke. He also loved participating in and watching the Special Olympics. One of his fondest memories was, at an early age, riding his horse Star to the ice cream store in Camanche. James loved his mother and family very much and will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
James is survived by his mother - Lillian of Clinton, IA; four sisters - Michelle Latimer of Clinton, IA, Luanne (Gerald) Ledford of Clinton, IA, Sharon (Dave) Kunau of Kansas City, MO, Patricia (Charles) Switizers of Big Sandy, TN.; one brother - Daniel (Judy) Latimer of Hawthorne, CA.; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Odie, one sister - Carolyn, and his grandparents.
