Mr. P. has been in feeble health for a number of years and an attack of la grippe brought him face to face with the death messenger. Sunday morning, Feb. 2d, at 9:45, he passed quietly and gently to the spirit land. Although deprived of speech his mind was clear, recognizing all that came to see him till the end came. His wife, his sons, his son-in-law, H.F. Dean, his grand children, Cyrus Pelham and Mrs. C. Daniels were around his bed when the last moment came. The funeral was from the Baptist church at 1 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 4, Revs. Miles of Camanche and Lamb, of DeWitt, officiating. His remains were interred in the Malone cemetery beside those of his wife and his spirit gone to the God who gave it. A large number of old friends and neighbors composed the funeral procession. At rest from toil and care, at rest in heavenly mansions fair.
