Dolores 'Dee' M. Edwards, 82, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on November 3, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center - North. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a funeral service taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at Lemke Funeral Home - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel, additionally, a one hour visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dolores was born May 24, 1932 in Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Anna (Buckholtz) Schwartz. She was a 1950 graduate of Maynard High School. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Edwards on March 23, 1952 in Oelwein, Iowa.
Upon moving to Clinton, Dolores was a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell. She also worked for the area schools. Later, she worked for the City of Clinton for 39 years in the Parks and Recreation Department of which she was Program Coordinator for much of that time. Following retirement you could still find Dee back at the Ericksen Center helping out.
Dee was a woman of many talents, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed which included working with ceramics, baking (making the best pies around), and she was a wonderful and talented seamstress, a skill she developed in her teens. She loved spending time in her yard and tending to her garden. She also loved dancing and traveling with Mel. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by two daughters - Michelle Malli of Clinton, Tamara (Martin Dulany) Edwards of Clinton; two sons - Michael 'Mickey' Edwards of Clinton and David 'DL' Edwards of Clinton; three grandchildren - Rachael (Jeff) Schroeder of Fort Myers, FL., Kelsey (Adam) Simmons of Clinton and James Malli IV; three great great grandchildren - Blake, Logan and Emma; three sisters - El, Kay and Bev and one brother - Walter with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Dolores in death were her parents, her husband Kenneth and one daughter- Penny.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
