Dean Gary Schneider, age 73 of Toronto, passed away on Thursday December 4, 2014 at his home. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be held on Monday December 8, 2014 at 10:30 A.M at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation with Reverend Mike Phillips officiating. A lunch will follow. No visitation will be held.

Dean was born on June 17, 1941 in Big Rock, Iowa to Albert and Eva (Hesse) Schneider. He married Linda Kuster at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Big Rock on July 25, 1959.

Dean graduated from Wheatland High School in 1959. He retired from the River Valley Coop in Lost Nation in 2006. Dean was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. He enjoyed his family, friends, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa ever.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Gary (Joan) Schneider of Maquoketa, Doug (Tiffani) Schneider of Bettendorf, and Mitchell (Kristine) Schneider of Virginia; daughter, Tammi Schneider-Spiller of Wright City, MO.; grandchildren, Marshall (Darcy) Schneider, Mayse (Jason) Grimm, Mike (Angie) VanderHeiden, and Mathew (Rachelle) VanderHeiden, all of Shellsburg; Hope Perry, Kailynn (Brent) Buchman, and Samantha Sommer of Bettendorf; Garrett Schneider of Davenport, Kaleena Valdez of Chicago, IL., Natasha Schneider of Texas, Mettea (Thorn) West of Florida, Beth Ann Spiller of Missouri, Cody Spiller of Missouri, and Jenny (Zack) Woodward of Missouri; 24 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; aunts, Louisa and Alice Schneider of Wheatland; sister-in-laws, Margo Schneider of Muscatine, Landa Duszynski of Georgia, Lee (Gene) Mayerhofer of Dixon, Laurie (Fred) Blake of Alabama; and brother-in-law, Larry (Pam) Kuster.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Virgil, Georgie and Rolland Schneider.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Trappers Convention.
