Marilyn J. DeWitt age 80, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 25th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.

Marilyn was born in Clinton on July 8, 1934, the daughter of LeRoy and Bernice (Thielen) Hagge. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1952. Following her graduation she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Archie Bloom from 1952 to 1957.
Marilyn married John DeWitt on July 28, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Clinton Country Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, reading and traveling with her husband.

Marilyn is survived by her husband John; four children, Kevin (Wendy) DeWitt of Rock Island, Julia (Mark) Vanderbleek of Cooksville, IL, Elizabeth (Brent) Nissen of Columbia, IL and Megan (Marty) Irmen of Davenport; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a sister, Darlene Mumm of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Paul; her sister, Jeanette and two brothers, LeRoy and Ronald. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
