MURDOCH, HOLLERAN

The Clinton Herald Friday December 5, 1930; Page 5 William Francis Murdock died at 8:15 p.m. December 4 at Mercy hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home 1720 North Second street. J.M. Duer,D.D. of the First Presbyterian church will officiate at the home and the Rose Croix service for the Masonic fraternity will be conducted at the grave. Mr. Murdoch was born April 3, 1861 in Fergus, Ontario, Canada. He went to Chicago in the year 1881 and for 50 years was connected the the L.A. Talcott Wholesale Grocery company. He was married February 2, 1886 to Minnie E. Holleran at Fulton, Ill., and leaves his widow and two children, William Tracy and Helen Burdoch, also a nephew, Harold Murdoch of Chicago, and a niece, Mrs. John Stevenson of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Murdoch was a mmeber of Lyons lodge, 93, A.F.&A.M., a 32-degree Mason, ammeber of DeMolay Consistory and of the Tebaia Shrine of Rockford, Ill. He also held membership in the Wapsipinicon and Clinton Country clubs. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church for many years. Through his connection with the wholesale house he traveled widely in the central states, a man recognized for his business acumen, his fine spirit in living and his cordiality. He home was to him a great joy and when illness came upon him, months ago, he relinquished active duties but never lessened his interest in those things that he cherished most.
The Clinton Herald Saturday December 6, 1930 p. 5 Funeral services for William F. Murdoch who died Thursday evening at Mercy hospital, wree held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home, 1720 North Second street. The Rev. J.M. Duer, D.D., of the First Presbyterian church, officiated. During the service Mrs. H.H. Hobart sand, "Sleep on Beloved" and "Lead, Kindly Light" with Mrs. W.H. Bardwell at the piano. Attending the casket were James Leslie, John E. Mooney, Roy Munch, J.M. Walters, W.B. Ebensberger and Roy Green. The Rose Croix ritual for the Masonic fraternity was conducted at the grave in Oakland cemetery. Here from out of the city to attend the funeral were: Mrs. C.L. Prentiss, Omaha, Nebr. Mrs. Bruce E. Corliss, Eagle Grove, Harold Murdoch, I.N. Conrad, Miss Nell McCarthy, Chicago, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Pauley, Aurora, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wunderlich, Joliet, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. William Van Kirk, Chicago, Ill., Roy Green, Moline, Ill.
