The Clinton Advertiser; Monday December 26, 1925 p. 2 The funeral of Mrs. Jas. Kearney was held from St. Joseph's church, Saturday, at 10 o'clock a.m. The pastor, Rev. J.J. Nelson read the requiem mass, and Miss Eveleen McDermott soloist, with choir carring the chorus, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The remains were interred in St. Joseph's cemetery and the following were pallbearers, John Rowan, Charlotte, Frank Yegge, Robert Vetter, Nat Baird, Ignatius McAllister and M.J. Torpey. The flower girls were Eleanor Dunlavey, Kathryn Welsh, Francis Hunter and Elizabeth McManus. Miss Susan Crowley was born in Lanesboro, Minnesota March 7, 1858 and died at her home in West DeWitt, Thursday, December 24, 1925. On January 6, 1877, she was united in marriage with James Kearney at Lanesboro, and the young couple came at once to Clinton county, where they lived on a farm near DeWitt, until 16 years ago, when they retired and have since resided at DeWitt. The deceased is survived by her husband, three sons, Frank, Michael J., and John and two daughters, Mrs. T.J. Crowley and Bridget Kearney, all of DeWitt. She also leaves 16 grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. M.E. McDonald and Miss Kate Crowley of Mitchell, South Dakota, Mrs. Thomas Wilson of Sioux City, and Mrs. M.E. Conlan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The funeral was unusually large, being attended by friends from all parts of the county, and the floral and spiritual bouquets were many and beautiful. Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Allie McManus, C.H. Boyle and daughter Nellie, Mamie Black, Mr. and Mrs. James McManus, Mr. and Mrs. T. Rielly, James Reilly, Nellie O'Brien and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sullivan of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Scanlan, John and Mary Buckley of Clinton, Daniel Redmond, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Pat Hines, Maquoketa, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Burkhart of Peoria, Illinois, Mr. Chas. St. Onge of East Moline, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sullivan and Bert Sullivan of Welton.
