The Clinton Herald Wednesday May 22, 1946 Solemn requiem high mass was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Joseph's church here for Frank J. Kearney, prominent DeWitt business man who died Sunday. The Rev. John Moriarty, pastor celebrated the mass, the Rev. James Brady of Welton was the deacon, and the Rev. Edward Leahy was sub-deacon. Acting pallbearers were Harry Meints, Jerry Wolfe, Dennis Cannon, Lee Barber, Leonard Hynes, M.V. Peters and H.C. Peters, all of DeWitt, and V.E. Crowley of Welton. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Burke, Fred Dewell, Carl Reardon, Marvin Jacobsen and John Rowan, all of Clinton, William Torpey, H.L. Irwin, J.P. Degnan, Frank A. Yegge, Peter Troy and Charles Hunter, all of DeWitt, W.E. Spain, Charlotte, and James France, Sr. of Tipton. In charge of flowers were Mrs. C.C. Christiansen, Mrs. U.S. Brumer, Mrs. Elmer Briggs, Mrs. Nettie Oppelt and Mrs. Minnie Elsesser. Burial ws in St. Joseph's cemetery. Father Moriarty officiating at the grave. DeWitt business houses were closed during the rites as a mark of respect to Mr. Kearney. Relatives attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Houar, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ruge, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McGivern and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kearney, all of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. V.J. Kearney and James Woods, all of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kane, Long Grove, Mrs. L.V. Ryan and Mrs. Clarence Curtin, Emory, S.D.; Mrs. Charles McMaster, Alexandria, S.D., Miss Clare Kearney, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kearney, Delphus, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kearney, Sterling, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Cozzens, Low Moor, Mrs. William Haring, Camanche, Margaret Coffee and James Kirby, both of Cedar Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kane and family of Sigourney. Many friends were present from Clinton, Davenport and surrounding towns.
