The Clinton Daily Herald Friday February 28, 1908 Although Mrs. Frank Kearney had been ailing for many weeks and at times her life was despaired of, the last two weeks her condition had seemed greatly improved and her friend had the fond hope that they would see her once more among them with her usual strength and vigor. Thus the news of her death which reached us Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25th came as a shock. Elizabeth Kane Kearney was born in Maquoketa, Ia. Dec. 26th, 1878. He education was received in her native town where she graduated with honor from the Maquoketa high school. She was unifed in marriage at Maquoketa, May 9th, 1905, to Frank Kearney of DeWitt, who brought his young bride to this city to reside. They made their home on a farm seven miles east of DeWitt, where they spent three years together which she made with her blithe and lovely disposition, a very happy one to him. It was also a pleasant resort to the many DeWitt acquaintances who soon learned to value her friendship. She was an ernest and devoted member of the Catholic church and so when the Master called her she was ready. Although she will be seen no more by her earthly friends the memory of her beautiful life will long remain in the hearts of all. She is survived besides the grief stricken husband, a mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kane, one sister, Sarah, and one brother Eugene of Maquoketa. The remains were taken on the 4 o'clock passenger to Maquoketa thursday afternoon. A large crowd of sympathizing friends were at the depot. The DeWitt pall bearers were Messrs. M. Crowley, Wm. Hanrahan, Thos. Mcginty, Thos. Dignan, Thos. McGuire and John Judge. The funeral services will take place at Maquoketa Saturday morning with interment in Maquoketa cemetery.
