Gwemella M. Edens, 87, of Clinton, passed away, on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Ketelsen, Ken Eggers, Neal Ryan, Thaddeus Paisar, Toby Wilke, and Terry Ryan. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Gwemella Maxine Wilke was born on October 8, 1926 in Garden Plain, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Marriner) Wilke. She married Raymond E. Edens on September 28, 1947 in Clinton; he died March 26, 1999.

Gwen was a graduate of Clinton High School.

Gwen was a homemaker; she also worked for Nielsen’s Clearing House for 11 years.

Gwen was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran, the Naomi Circle at the church and taught Sunday school while her children were growing up. She was a Low Moor Quilter that enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. She was also a member of Mercy Auxiliary.

Gwen is survived by her daughter Raedene (Terry) Ryan of Clinton; her son: Lonnie Edens of Davenport, Iowa, 5 grandchildren: Sara (Thaddeus) Paisar, Neal (Kristen) Ryan, Megan Ryan, Ashlee (Steve) Trafford, Alison Edens and two great-grandchildren: Lucian & Kellen Paisar; one sister: Lynne Eads of Vancouver, Washington and several nieces nephews, and cousins and her beloved kitty: Yowza.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister: Willadean, and one brother: Vernon.
