Arthera B. “Artie” Ketelsen, 80, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, June 16, 2014 at her home in Clinton. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Dan Poole officiating. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig assisted the family with arrangements. Honorary pallbearers will be David Ketelsen, Adam Lloyd, Parker Lloyd, Robert Ketelsen and Logan Wagemester.

Arthera Berniece Bier was born on February 23, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Esther (Jensen) Bier. She graduated in 1952 from Clinton High School. Artie married Kenneth Ketelsen June 14, 1953 in Clinton, they were the first couple married in the newly formed Chancy Lutheran Church.
Artie was employed in the accounting department at Clinton Corn Processing Co. for 13 years and for Clinco Credit Union for 10 years, retiring in 1995.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was an active member of Chancy Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild and other committees. In 2004 she joined St. John’s Lutheran Church LCMS. She was also a volunteer for Mercy Auxiliary for 10 years. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved people.
Artie is survived by her loving husband, Ken; son Mark (Sandy) Ketelsen of Moscow, Idaho; daughters, Susan (Doug) Lloyd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mary Beth (Dan) Wagemester of Walford, Iowa; grandchildren, Amanda and David Ketelsen, Kaitlyn (Austen) Campbell, Adam, Parker and Meredith Lloyd and Logan Wagemester; great-grandson, Miles Campbell; sister, Sharon Kraft of Evansville, Indiana and special friend, Karen Goebel.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, parents, sisters, Shirley and Joan and her son-in-law, Ross Vining.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Diabetes Foundation or the Dialysis Center in Clinton.
