Phyllis M. Wiese age 90 of Clinton, passed away Thursday June 19, 2014 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 23rd at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the service hour Monday at the church. Lunch will follow the services, with burial to follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Phyllis was born on September 12, 1923 in Lyons, the daughter of Mathew and Elsie (Zastrow) Schwarz. She graduated from Mt. St. Clare Academy in 1942. She married Virgil Wiese on May 6, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. Virgil passed away on January 9, 1999. Phyllis and Virgil farmed most of their lives on the Wiese family farm in Bryant, retiring from farming in 1972 and moving to Clinton. She had also been employed at Paetz Grocery and Bakery and later A.C. Nielsen. In retirement, Phyllis and Virgil truly enjoyed wintering in southern Texas in their motor home for 14 years.

Phyllis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and loved quilting, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren camping, traveling, yard work, gardening and walking the bike path. In the past 10 months while residing at Bickford Cottage and then the Alverno, Phyllis numerous times proudly boasted of being a strong farm wife.

Phyllis is survived by her three children, Dianne (Robert) Levetzow of Sabula, Carol (Richard) Schroeder of Clinton, and James (Jo) Wiese of Davenport; five grandchildren, Kristi (Mark) Seamer, Kelli (Scott) Parker, Kim (Mike) Gay, Kurt (Selena) Levetzow and Matt (Joanna) Wiese; and eight great grandchildren, Brooke (Brian) LaFollette, Brady Seamer, Evan Parker, Aaron Parker, Michael Parker, Hannah Gay, Brandon Gay and Eden Levetzow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son-in-law; George DeGraw. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
