Jon E. Nash, 41, of Clinton, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Clinton, Iowa.
Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Jon was born on April 5, 1973 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Kirby and Liz (Stoltz) Nash.
He was a 1991 graduate of Clinton High School.
Jon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Whitetail Unlimited. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and riding with his friends. As a proud American, he was a member of the Patriot Guard and helped protect fallen soldiers on their final journeys home. Jon was a welder-pipe fitter and maintenance mechanic. He was very handy with just about anything. Jon enjoyed fixing boats and cars for his friends and going fishing in Canada at Wenesaga Lodge. He spent many summers in Colorado with his grandparents.
Jon’s Grandfather, William Weston and his father Kirby Nash, instilled in him from an early age the spirit of scouting. Jon achieved Life Scout from Troop 1. Some of these same values he was trying to pass on to his own son, Jacob.
Jon played little league and Junior Football as a youth. In high school he studied welding and building trades. He still had a love for building things, like the hunting shed at his favorite spot on the family’s acreage by Goose Lake. He shot many deer from that spot.
More than anything, Jon loved his five year-old son, Jacob. Jacob was the pride and joy of Jon’s life. Not a day passed that Jon did not speak of or beam with pride because of his beautiful son.
Jon is survived by son, Jacob of Clinton; parents Kirby and Liz Nash of Clinton; his brother Josh and (Paula) Nash of Pinehurst, North Carolina; his sister Traci (Marc) Smith of Clinton; nieces Olivia and Madison Nash of Pennsylvania, and Nephews Dakota Pratt of North Carolina, and Elijah and Abraham Smith of Clinton. Jon also had a very loyal canine companion, Jake that he truly adored.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Betty Weston and Lloyd and Helen Nash.
