Jerald Kreucher age 80 of Clinton, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at Mercy North Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the Pape Funeral Home on Monday March 10th at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be at the Pape Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th from 2 to 6PM. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. A luncheon and time for sharing for family and friends will follow at Rastrelli’s restaurant. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
Jerald was born on Grant Street in Lyons, Iowa on April 16, 1933. He was the 5th son of John and Mary Ellen Kreucher. Jerry attended Lyons High School where he was an outstanding football player and a state champion in track. He graduated in 1951. After high school he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. He was an aircraft mechanic, with duty in the Pacific Theater. When Jerry returned from the Navy he started his college education at Clinton Community Junior College. He then graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Jerry did a variety of work, mainly with the labor’s union; he also did security work for the army, was a part time farmer and was in the real estate business. He was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Church in Lyons and currently attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Jerry was a very active in his retirement, walking every day and exercising with weights at the Ericson Center three days a week. On weekends his attention was always on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jerry was an avid fan of the University of Iowa wrestling, basketball, and football teams. His TV was also regularly tuned to the Bears and the Cubs, and for variety Gene Autry cowboy movies. He was a great lover of animals, always had dogs, and loved to feed the birds. Jerry liked to garden and usually had something growing around the house.
Jerald is survived by his brother in law, Jack Stanford of Holland Michigan, his cousins Rodney, Roger, Tony, and Frank Proud of Clinton, his nephews; John (Becky) Hansen of DeWitt, Dave Kreucher, Clinton, Dave Dodge and Kelly Dodge all of Clinton, his nieces, Betsy and Cindy Kreucher, Mary Ellen Dodge of Clinton, Terry (Doc) Shuster and Debby (Andy) Fierro, Holland Michigan. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Dodge and Betty Stanford and his brothers John and Jim Kreucher. Our uncle Jerry will be missed, he was a big hearted man, and always lent a hand to those in need. He was a praying man who put his faith in Jesus Christ and now rejoices with him forever.
