John W. Frampton, 74, of Clinton, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home.

Memorial Services will be 11:30am, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at First Congregational Church 700 North Bluff Blvd – Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time at the church. Following his wishes the body has been cremated. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. John William Frampton was born on January 10, 1940 in Boone, Iowa, the son of George and Ethel (Huffman) Frampton. He was a 1958 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Jane (Dalldorf) Frampton on December 19, 1959.

John then went to work at Clinton Corn Processing Plant while attending Clinton Community College and later graduated from the University of Iowa in 1967 with a bachelor in Business Administration. He then went on to be a controller for many years at Champion/Waldorf Corporation.

John was very active in the community serving as past President of the Circle K Club, Board of Directors of Junior Achievement, President of the YMCA Y’s Men’s Club, Board of Directors Foundation for Educational Excellence, the executive board of Clinton River Boat Days, diaconate and member of the First Congregational Church, President of the Maquoketa Rotary Club and trustee of the Eastern Iowa Community College District.

John enjoyed fishing, photography, sports, movies, and spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Jane, two sons: Todd Frampton of Batavia, Illinois, Troy (Nicole) Frampton of Milledgeville, Illinois; two grandsons: Henry and Elliot Frampton of Milledgeville, Illinois; a half brother: Don Steinhoff of Kansas City, a half sister: Shirley Hadaway of Fort Dodge, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog: Chloe.

John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and half brothers: Ed & Glen Steinhoff.
