BENDIXEN, WEAVER, NIELSEN

William C. Bendixen, 66, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his residence in Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory.

He was born in Clinton, Iowa September 15th 1947 to Harold and Mildred (Weaver) Bendixen.
He attended public schools in Clinton, Iowa and graduated from Clinton High School in 1966.

He served in the military (Army) from 1967 to 1969 with much of his time being spent in Vietnam being a tank driver and welder. In 1969 he received an honorable discharge.

His employment career was spent with several different employers, the last 20 years as a certified welder with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Car Shop in Clinton, and later the Union Pacific Railroad Car Shop in DeSoto, Missouri, who had purchased the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

Bill was a member of the Clinton American Veterans Club since his release from the Military, and also had been an active member of the Clinton Eagles Club since 1976.

He was an avid reader, especially enjoying any type of railroad magazines. He loved to go fishing in Canada with his father, brother, and nephew when he was younger.

He has a surviving brother John and sister-in law Marilyn living in Rockford, a sister Barbara and brother -in law Russ Nielsen living in Riverside, California, a nephew Christopher Bendixen, and his wife Natalie living in Muscatine, Iowa, and a great nephew Tyler John Bendixen living in Muscatine, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
