Maurice “Mike” J. Oestreich, 80, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, June 17, 2013 surrounded by his family at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.

Private Family Services will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Clinton Church of Christ. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Maurice Jerry Oestreich was born on December 27, 1932 in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of Jerry William and Flora Bell (Brownwell) Oestreich. He attended school at Sextonville and Oshkosh Wisconsin. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1953 n Treste, Italy.

On August 30, 1954 he married Shirley A. Hartley in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He moved to Clinton from Richland Center, Wisconsin in 1955. He was a brick mason by trade and worked for local contractors and Clinton Corn Processing. He also worked at the Clinton YMCA and PFC until retiring in 2012.

He was a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed yard work, and tending to his flowers and garden. He was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley of Clinton; sons: Michael (Cindy), John (Connie), of Clinton, and Mark (Julie) of Bettendorf; two daughters: Debra (Marty Miller), and Beth (Tom Spalding) of Clinton; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother Dave (Avis) Schultz of Waukesha, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, one brother-in-law, a son-in-law: Richard McHenry, and one grandson.
