James Charles Pack, 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Living Center - North on June 8th, 2013 surrounded by his family. At James request cremation rights have been accorded. A graveside service will take place on June 29th, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Illinois. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born November 16th, 1920 in Greenville South, Carolina the son of Brownlow Morris and Rose (Banning) Pack. He attained a structural engineering degree from Georgia Tech University. He married his first wife Elizabeth in 1942, she passed in 1970. He was later united in marriage to Lee West on December 3rd, 1979. Lee gave him a new life at 59; instantly becoming a Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Great Great Grandpa which he embraced whole heartedly.
James served honorably in the U.S. Army and also the New Mexico National Guard. He retired from Eaton Corporation after 30+ years as an Engineer. After his retirement he continued to work as an Engineering consultant for Eaton Corp.
His family was the most important part of his life and he was so proud of all of his children. He enjoyed flying, he liked to play his Omnichord and he loved to dance.
James is survived by his daughter in-law and caregiver Sandy Herrington; one-daughter - Karen (Bob) Hesterman; his grand children - Lisa (Ron) Leeper, Laura (John) McKown, Lesley (C.J.) Rose, Rebekka (Matt) Moran; twelve great grandchildren - Lindsey Leeper, Sean Leeper, Breanna Eggers, Kim Leeper, Megan Hatfield, Amanda Hatfield, Zac McKown, Emily Eggers, Lexus Rose, Luke Leeper, Quinton Rose and Zoe Rose; four great great grandchildren- Gracie, Bentley, Ty Brown, Jordyn (Eggers) Cady; One brother - Brownie (Bonnie) Pack and many nieces and nephews. He was excitedly awaiting the birth of another great great grandchild in July - baby boy Moran.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life Lee, his first wife Liz, his son Rick and three sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church.
