Ronald James Mitchell, 63, of Morrison (formally of Clinton), passed away at his residence on June 7th, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, June 11th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel 2610 Manufacturing Drive (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ronald was born February 25th, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Ronald Arthur and Ruth (Fisher) Mitchell. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Burk on November 22nd, 1969 at St. Marks Methodist Church in Camanche, Iowa. Ronald served his county in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973 achieving the rank of SPC 5.
Ronald worked for Champion Packaging for 17 years. He was also a security guard, an auctioneer and an antique dealer.
Ronald loved to attend auctions and was quite the wheeler dealer, always looking for a good deal. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Above all he put his family first and loved them very much.
Ronald is survived by his wife Carol of Morrison; two daughters - Paula (Rolando) Mitchell-Benitez of Morrison, IL., Kelly (Felipe) Cuanetl of Montgomery, IL.; one son - Ronald A. (Marlene) Mitchell of Colorado Springs, CO.; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister - Kathy Hamrick of the Quad Cities; five brothers - Roger B. (Carole) Mitchell of Fulton, IL., Mark T. (Lisa Broderick) Mitchell of Clinton, IA., William E. Mitchell of Texas, Randall L. Mitchell of Clinton, IA., Orlin J. (Wendy) Mitchell of Fulton, IL. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Gloria.
