Yvonne A. (Mrs. Roy) Hofsommer, 87 of DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, July 24, 2013, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the United Methodist Church, DeWitt, from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013. A funeral service will held at 12:00 Noon, in the Church. The Rev. Dr. Donald Batz will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Barr, Scott Hofsommer, Greg Hofsommer, Nick Hofsommer, Dennis Pals, and John Erickson. McKenzie Kettler will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Hofsommer, the former Yvonne Ann Hilpipre was born March 17, 1926, in Blairsburg, Iowa, to John and Margaret (Mathis) Hilpipre. Yvonne married Roy Hofsommer March 21, 1948, in Dows, Iowa. She worked at Matthiesen's Sausage for many years. The couple also owned and operated the DeWitt Tastee Freez for a number of years. Her husband preceded her in death on June 8, 1990.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of DeWitt. Yvonne enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are sons, Ricki (Caroline) Hofsommer of Knob Noster, Missouri, Robert (Sherry) Hofsommer of Clinton, Iowa, and Randy (Winnie) Hofsommer of Solon, Iowa; a daughter, Robyn (Larry) Kettler of Fulton, Illinois; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn (Wayne) Pals of Belmond, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marie Erickson and a son-in-law, David Barr.
