Paul Raymond Patrick Johnson was born on November 3, 1948 in Clinton, the son of Charles and Geraldine (Dunn) Johnson. He attended Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1967. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967-1971.

Paul worked most of his life as a security guard at a number of facilities including the University of Iowa Hospitals for 18 years and worked a number of years at the Wild Rose Casino before retiring.

Paul has always been an outstanding volunteer. He was a Boy Scout Leader, especially enjoying the camping aspect of Boy Scouts. He was a lifetime and very active member of the Eagles Club. He proudly represented his years of service by participating in the AMVETS color guard at funerals and parades. He was also involved in the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed singing in high school and the Acapella choir and participated in the Messiah.

Paul became involved in helping plan his last few class reunions and especially enjoyed surprising people as to how much he had changed since high school. He also became very active the last four years with AA and treasured his fellowship and friendships he found there. “Uncle Paul” was a dedicated and proud uncle to his two nieces. He had the amazing talent of picking out the perfect gift and was always very generous to his family throughout his life.

Paul will be missed by his sister and brother-in-law: Judy and George Leonard of Clinton; his nieces: Alisha Bersch and Sara (Mike) Durtiza; along with Mason, Miley, and Makinley Durtiza. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Memorials can be made to AA.
