OLD RESIDENT DIES

Nicholas Naeve,Sr., died at his home in Hampshire Township, last Friday morning, at the age of nearly 80 years, death being due to heart failure. Mr. Naeve was born in Germany where he spent his early life, coming to America and locating in Scott County in 1849. About 1860 he moved to Clinton County, where he lived highly respected as a man and neighbor and one of the county's substantial farmers.

He leaves to mourn his departure six sons and four daughters, as follows: Henry of Schleswig, Iowa, Chris of Elk River, Fred of Deep Creek, Mrs. Peter Buchloz of Newall, John of Charlotte, Nick, Jr. of Hampshire, Albert of Deep Creek, Mrs. E. Stergemann of Buck Grove, Mrs. Peter Ehlers of Hampshire, Mrs. P. F. Schroeder of Charlotte, 47 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.

The funeral, which was largely attended, was held at the home Monday morning, The sermon was preached by Rev. Hansen of Clarence, Iowa. The remains were interred in the Ingwersen Cemetery.
