Penny Brown age 59 of Clinton passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Penny was born in Clinton on December 29, 1953, the daughter of Kenneth and Dolores (Schwartz) Edwards. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1971. She attended Kirkwood Community College where she was on the Dean’s list and received her degree as a C.D.T. (Ceramic Dental Technician). Penny married Donald Brown, Jr. in 1974 in Clinton. She was confirmed and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Penny was a master gardener. She volunteered countless hours and was very active in fund raising for the Quad City Master Gardener Club.

Penny was a true artist in making replica antique dolls, creating her porcelain originals from the basics of molding heads, bodies, and appendages to the final touches of satin bonnet’s and dresses. Her dolls have been on display at the University of Iowa, the DuPont mansion in Maryland and in window displays in downtown Chicago. Penny was also a true animal love, having beloved pets from birds, cats and dogs. “Chico” her cockatiel, now resides at Mercy Living Center South for the residents and their families to enjoy.

Penny is survived by her daughter, Rachael (Jeff) Schroeder of Fort Myers, FL; a grandson, Logan; her mother, Dolores of Clinton; two sisters, Michelle Malli and Tamara Edwards-Dulany (Martin) both of Clinton; two brothers, Michael “Mick” Edwards of Bonne Terre, MO and David Edwards of Kentucky; a niece, Kelsey (Adam) Simmons of Clinton; a nephew, James Malli IV of Clinton and a great niece and nephew, Blake and Emma. She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, a brother-in-law, James and her beloved yorkie “Cricket”. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
