Walter K. Mains, 90, of Clinton, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center – North Campus, Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will follow in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.

Walter Kenneth Mains was born on July 1, 1922 in Waukon, Minnesota, the son of Soren and Caroline (Schnoor) Mains.

Walter served in the United States Army from 1941-1963 serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the Army he worked at Collis in Clinton for 19 years retiring in 1985.

Walter married Hazel Reynolds-Tannahill on January 20, 1973 in Clinton; she died on August 16, 2010.

Walter was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church and was honored to travel on the Honor Flight in the Spring of 2011.

Walter is survived by one sonL John (Pam) Mains of Cedar City, Utah, a step-son: Curtis (Maylouise) Tannahill in Coal Valley, Illinois, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, two daughter-in-laws, two brothers, and two sisters.

Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
