Mr. John R. "Bill" Hardison, 90, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Saturday morning, April 28, 2012 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
John Rhuel Hardison was born January 27, 1922, in Dallas County, Missouri, to Oren Oscar and Verna Ann (Bales) Hardison. He married June May Todtz May 2, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa. The couple resided in Lowden for many years where they raised their family. Bill owned and operated a trucking company for many years, hauling limestone to area farmers. His wife, June preceded him in death on July 1, 2005.
In retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling and spending much of his time fishing at his summer home at Shady Haven in Bellevue, Iowa. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice Faye Hardison of DeWitt; sisters, Leola Anderson of Westminster, Colorado, and Virginia Shields of Tulsa, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding John in death in addition to his wife, June, were a son, Charles John Hardison, his parents, and siblings, Genevieve Jones, Carl "Pete" Hardison, Sr., and Harold "Hardy" Hardison.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. The Reverend Victor P. Young will officiate with burial to follow.
