Kathryn A. Cousins, 92, of Clinton, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church – Clinton. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery – Camanche. Serving as pallbearers will be Sara Rogis Collins, Brad Tobey, Bill Allen, Randy Seeser, Larry Kramer, and Roger Hill. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bud Tobey, Ron Kircher, G. Wylie Pillers, Al Rogis, Harlan Seeser, Jack Wiese, Steve Hunn, Brian Schaeffer, Carla Rogis Taylor and Noah Zeller. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time at the church on Saturday. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn was born on August 23, 1919 in Emmons County, North Dakota the daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Wallhof) Schaefer. She married Claude P. Small on March 11, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He died in 1969. She later married Wm. Carl Cousins on January 23, 1971 At Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, IA. He is also deceased.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Eventide Guild and Church Choir. She was a member of the NFO and the American Shetland Pony Association. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening and working with ponies and supporting the Clinton County 4- H Pony Club. She and Carl enjoyed going to dances and
traveling.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Barb) Small of Lost Nation, Iowa, two stepdaughters, Mary (Marek) Parszewski of New London, Wisconsin, and Jeanne (Allan) Rogis of DeWitt, Iowa. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren also survive her. A sister, Esther Hunn, a brother Edwin Schaefer, and a brother-in-law, Robert Suppan, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota, also survive her. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Preceding Kathryn in death were her parents, both husbands, four sisters, Bertha Rickertsen, Frieda Martin, Emily Weber, and Martha Suppan, three brothers, Julius Schaefer, Vern Schaefer, and Marvin Schaefer.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, lA, The German Heritage Society in Davenport, Iowa, or the Victory Center in Clinton, IA.
